need… to… update… more… often…

Kinda loose track that i got this little corner of the web now to stick stuff up on, needless to say not many people will access it but i like it (even tho i’ve had some critics complain that its not a website and that MySpaces is better)
I bet those critics dont pay for much then 😛 I like having freedom to do what i want to this website when i want it (as long as i dont breach the terms and conditions)

Im rambling…

Well, the past two months has been mad at work but yet also interesting. We had major riots over here in NI and from all the action, we ended up loosing two offices to arsons (and a few others suffered scorch damage)
that lead to loads of paranoia from management for Disaster Recovery sites and whatnot, needless to say my manager Jaymes has been pushing for this since day1. Funny how managers work better reactively, all they need to do is decide on a disaster recovery plan prior to its implimentation (its implimentation is currently less than sufficient, just like the DR site server room )

So, the team had to essencially create two offices in the space of a few days, hats off to the boys for doing such a fine job while i enjoyed my week off 😉 they had to scrounge equipment from the stores just to make sure both sites are now operational once more in “temporary” accomodation. Now all we have to do is finish moving one of the teams again to new accomodation where they will be there more permanent.

The server room is due an overhaul soon, and the network is getting a new lease of life with a much needed upgrade. The whole schemantics of which would be lost on anyone who either (a) doesn’t work in IT (b) is not classed by humanity as being a “geek” or “nerd (c) senior management

So in the next few months the whole team is “stuck” rolling out network equipment, configuring computers and doing office politics as to who gets installed when and why they got installed before we did and all that gumph that comes about in these times.

So, getting back to this more or less a week after I started writing this post…

I keep suffering from brain freeze when I go to update this site, trying to juggle the interesting things with the dull things, and not to put anything that could be offencive to people. 😛 when the hell did i become politically correct?

So been looking at the local car dealership at a new motor, the Partner combi is a wee bit too big for me these days, and funnily enough im the only person not using the space. So went and looked at the new Fiesta Style, and took a 5dr model for a spin on the 15th October, still undecided if it will be worthwhile swapping tho! which is more important in regards cars?

I’ll hopefully update this a wee bit more often 🙂

What a mad weekend!, or should I say mad Saturday! 🙂

Spent Saturday down in Dublin with a few friends to see the U2 concert in Croke park (pictures Here in the Gallery) and it was a blast.

fair enough, couldn’t see squat where we were, but when your in a stadium and the whole crowd are singing “Elevation” in perfect time to the band, thats amazing 😀

Other things which was interesting was:

theres probably more than what i’ve covered, im still recovering from the event (getting back into larne at 3am Sunday morning doesnt work )

Why do councils waste money on frivious exercises?

Saturday was the day of the “Larne Alive Parade” which, to put lightly gives the town an excuse to celebrate something… which is funny because nobody knows what the heck they are celebrating!

To go back a few years prior to “Larne Alive” it was called the Civic Week Parade, this was when local companies got in on the act of building a “float” that was a particular theme (like the Sea, or flight, or something silly) and it was paraded down the main street full of school kids. It was a great idea which involved many large companies (like FG Wilsons and P & O ) and local schools.

Something happened in the mind of the council and they decided to scrap this for the more “modern” carnival atmosphere, which leads up to this day in question. where the once impressive train of floats with bands, music, people in those huge furry suits and stuff, is replaced by a rag-tag bunch of misfits trying to think they are in Rio instead of Larne

No wonder people dont care about the town these days 🙁
